RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical:

  • Provide direct ABA therapy to children with autism (direct implementation of
    skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans developed by the supervisor)
  • Keep children motivated to learn
  • Collect accurate data and objectively report session progress notes
  • Ability to work independently
  • Follow all HIPAA ( Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines related
    to client privacy

Grow with your students and with us! Prism Academy is centrally located on six picturesque acres in beautiful Berlin, Connecticut. This Approved Private Special Education Program provides a 10-month plus ESY compassionate educational experience for children with autism (ages 3-14) in a warm, fun, and nurturing environment. Teaching procedures are based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) where every child receives an individualized
program to reach their full potential.

SUMMARY

The Special Education Teacher is an integral part of a dynamic, collaborative team of teachers and Behavior Analysts who are responsible for designing and implementing lessons that nurture students’ growth and development through their Individualized Education Programs. The team provides ongoing supervision and training of assigned paraprofessional staff. Educational effectiveness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication skills are required
of the Special Education Teacher.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessment and Intervention Planning:
    • Conduct assessments relevant to the student’s educational performance and
      communicate assessment results in written and oral formats.
    • Design, implement, and systematically monitor, and modify as needed,
      skill-acquisition, behavior reduction, and generalization programming based on
      assessment results and data, within all domains of the IEP.
  • Staff Supervision:
    • Serve as primary supervisor for all techs, both formally assigned techs and
      informally all techs for all aspects for the technician job description.
    • Provide ongoing technician training using BST model during clinical oversight
      hours and thereafter as needed
  • General Case Management:
    • Regularly communicate learner progress/barriers and staff progress/barriers to
      School Administrators

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or related field
  • CT Certification 165/065/265 – Comprehensive Special Education, PreK–12
  • Experience teaching students with Autism
  • Knowledgeable about the science of Applied Behavior Analysis in educational settings

Summary

The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy in the clinical setting. In addition to providing direct therapy, the Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing consultative/indirect training as needed, participating in the treatment planning process and supplying required documentation, and working in collaboration with the clinical team to develop appropriate treatments for patients. The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for maintaining appropriate licensure. Therapeutic effectiveness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and communication skills are required of the Speech and Language Pathologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Intervention Planning

  • Conduct assessments relevant to the patient’s abilities including screenings, and
    norms-based, criterion-referenced, and curriculum-based measures.
  • Communicate results in written and oral formats to parents/caregivers, and to
    other relevant Prism team members.
  • Evaluate, using ongoing data collection, the effectiveness of interventions and
    modify as needed.
  • Provide AAC services including assessment, intervention, maintenance, and
    programming.

Intervention and Supports

  • Provide evidence-based, direct speech and language therapy services to young
    children
  • Collaborate and consult with family members, other Prism personnel (when applicable) and outside related service providers to support a cohesive clinical plan for patients.
  • Plan and facilitate social skills groups
  • Providing parent and staff trainings

Professional Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain documentation necessary for payer requirements In collaboration with a mentor, understand and utilize correct billing codes for sessions completed.

  • Conduct self in professional manner and be a model for Prism’s core values

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess Certificate of Clinic Confidence from the American
  • Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and must hold a valid CT Speech and
  • Language Pathology License with the Department of Public Health
  • 2+ years minimum experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist
  • Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism
  • Ability to perform other essential functions of the position, such as standing, walking, bending, sitting, kneeling, crouching, crawling and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledgeable on language and communication disorders, oral motor and feeding concerns, training and modeling use of AAC, Apraxia of speech and interventions to address these areas.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant who wants to change the lives of children with autism ages 3-14 utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Prism Academy provides a 10-month plus ESY (Extended School Year), intensive, educational program for children with autism. Prism’s ABA programming is compassionate and relationship-based. The Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) is responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy in the educational setting under the supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist. In addition to providing direct therapy, the Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant is responsible for participating in the PPT process and supplying required documentation, and working in collaboration with the school team to assist in developing appropriate treatments for students.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Intervention and Educational Supports:
    • Provide direct speech and language therapy services as identified through the IEP to support students in the educational setting developed by the supervising SLP.
    • Collaborate with other school personnel and related service providers to support a cohesive educational plan for students.
    • Facilitate team meetings for a student as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BA or BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Preferred: ASHA speech-language pathology assistant certification (C-SLPA)
  • 2+ years minimum experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant
  • Experience working with students in special education, specifically students diagnosed with Autism
  • Knowledgeable on language and communication disorders, oral motor and feeding concerns, training and modeling use of AAC, Apraxia of speech and interventions to address these areas.

Operations in our early intervention center. The mission of Prism is to achieve the most socially significant outcomes for people with autism by identifying, treating and educating as early and intensively as possible and by focusing on
the lifelong remediation of core deficits. We are passionate, analytical, committed to betterment, and foster lasting relationships.

The Director of Center Operations is responsible for the daily operations of the Center. The DCO ensures a safe and effective treatment environment for clients, manages staff, and communicates with families.

JOB HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Ensure treatment services are delivered in accordance with evidence-based practices
  • Maintain familiarity with center clients and BCBAs via periodic direct supervision of each
  • Oversee center clinical operations by providing training, and/or support to Center administration, BCBAs, and BTs (as needed)
  • Manage staff concerns within the scope of the Center
  • Coordinate staffing to ensure that all clients have appropriate staffing coverage and ratios
  • Provide a safe and positive working environment for clients and staff by helping to develop new protocols as needed
  • Ensure that the Center is kept organized, safe, clean, and in good repair
  • Maintain consistent inventory and ordering of materials
  • Ensure all new BCBA’s and Fellows are provided adequate training in regards to Center protocols and culture
  • Collaborate with other DCOs to develop standards to be maintained across all locations
  • Collaborate with COO, CECO, and Directors and attend regularly scheduled Directors and Staff meetings
  • Collaborate with Clinical Supervisors in relation to their assigned Center-based clients
  • Attend and participate in company meetings, trainings, and professional development

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be available in the rare case of off hours emergencies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • DCOs at the Farmington, CT center have the following additional responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with and oversee Supervision Coordinator to create and maintain a BACB fieldwork program
    • Collaborate with Professional Development; implement trainings for Center staff as needed
    • Collaborating with patient intake and insurance teams to ensure smooth patient start up, adherence to deadlines, and abiding my insurance related requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
  • 1 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • CPR/BLS required
  • Experience working directly with clients demonstrating a variety of skill levels and
    behavioral needs
  • Team player, flexible and able to solve problems in the moment, attention to detail, demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to take feedback, optimistic
  •  Proven ability to communicate effectively and ability to work independently and as part of a team
