Dr. Laura B. Turner, Ph.D., LP-CT, BCBA-D, LBA-CT is a clinical psychologist and board certified behavior analyst-doctoral (BCBA-D) with nearly 20 years of multi-disciplinary experience providing services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Dr. Turner is also an Associate Professor of Behavior Analysis, and the Program Director of the Applied Behavior Analysis Programs at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, her M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Binghamton University-SUNY, her behavior analytic training at the Florida Institute of Technology and the Institute for Child Development, her pre-doctoral internship in the ABA Track at the May Institute in Randolph and Brockton, Massachusetts, and her post-doctoral internship at the Autism Center at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT.
Dr. Turner specializes in diagnostic and psychological evaluation, behavioral assessment and intervention, and behavior therapy. She has publications and presentations on various topics, most notably emotional development of children with ASD, assessment and intervention for fear and anxiety in children with ASD, behavioral parent and staff training, and evidence-based practices for instruction and supervision of behavior analytic trainees. Dr. Turner is a Consulting Editor for Child and Family Behavior Therapy and serves as a guest reviewer for Behavior Analysis in Practice, The Clinical Supervisor, and more. She also served multi-year terms as the Chairperson of USJ’s Institutional Review Board and Subject Matter Expert in Ethics and Supervision for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
Professionally, Dr. Turner finds joy in inspiring her own graduate students to be open to learning new things, strengthen their scientific curiosity, and develop a compassionate approach to helping others. Personally, Dr. Turner enjoys spending time with her family and friends, eating almond Kringle, drinking Spindrift, and playing ping-pong.
